Kozhikode is a coastal city in the south Indian state of Kerala. It was a significant spice trade center and is close to Kappad Beach, where Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama landed in 1498. The central Kozhikode Beach, overlooked by an old lighthouse, is a popular spot for watching the sunset. Inland, tree-lined Mananchira Square, with its musical fountain, surrounds the massive Mananchira Tank, an artificial pond.

Chaliyar River

You can also cruise on the Chaliyar River, with meals provided on the boat.You can go by chaliyar river by raft too and can reach the kadalundi bird sanctuary.

Pazhassiraja Museum

The Pazhassiraja Museum at East Hill has antique bronzes, old coins, ancient earthenware and models of old temples.

Thusharagiri Waterfalls

The area around Thusharagiri Waterfalls, 50 km from Kozhikode has rubber, pepper, ginger and other spice plantations. You can go trekking here and the dense, emerald forests are filled with exotic birds and wildlife.

Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary

If you fancy a drive, Kadalundi Bird Sanctuary, 25 km from Kozhikode is a haven for migratory birds like terns, herons and sandpipers, best visited between November and March.
